Adrian Campbell-Smith Back To Retain His Crown

Posted on Wed 21st Feb, 2018 in: Team News

Adrian Campbell-Smith returns for a third year running to W2R Motorsport, competing to retain his crown as current GT5 AM champion.

Campbell-Smith, 44 from Greenwich, has enjoyed continued success throughout his short but fruitful Ginetta racing career – GRDC champion, GRDC+ vice-champion and now GT5 AM Champion. The popular and friendly trader from London regularly swaps his two-piece suit for his fire proof race suit to participate in the seven round single-make championship – starting in just five weeks at Oulton Park.

“Getting away to race is simply the best feeling ever and working with such a great team around me is an absolute pleasure. A highlight this year will be returning to Spa-Francorchamps, which is a spectacular circuit to race on and always a great weekend. I’m looking forward to getting back on the grid and I’m sure we can push to the front of the grid, whilst keeping my AM competitors behind me”.

W2R Motorsport will front a two-car attack on both AM (Campbell-Smith) and PRO (Brett Ward) GT5 categories, with both drivers being able to work together and utilising each other’s strengths to ensure their success on circuit.

Team owner, Ben Hyland, is delighted with the pairing for their campaign in Ginetta GT5.

“It is wonderful having Adrian back with us, he is very much part of our W2R family. Adrian’s  approach to his racing is professional and dedicated with results last year proving he has the pace to mix it with the Pros. For me, Adrian is by far the best AM driver on the grid and we’ll be doing everything we can to help him retain his championship title this season.”
