Bond To Signs Out Of GRDC In Style

Posted on Fri 25th Aug, 2017 in: Competition NewsTeam News

Bond To signed out of his competition winning season in speed and style at Brands Hatch with a double podium on the tantalising Grand Prix circuit layout.

Winning last year’s want2race competition Bond had received a full season of car hire and his very own Ginetta G40 Club Car, race entries to the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club, insurance, fuel, tyres, team prep and transport plus all race wear and safety equipment.

The eight round series came to a suitable close in front of thousands of fans at Brands Hatch, with the closest and most exiting racing of the season. Bond drove superbly all weekend, especially having not driven the daunting GP circuit before until the very first laps of damp qualifying, in which he finished in second place of fifteen cars.

Race 1 saw a fabulous battle between Bond and Sibley, Bond leading for over half the race and pulling away from Sibley as the couple settled into the race. Bond ran wide on a damp part of the circuit which allowed Sibley to pass and ensure a lead which would be maintained until the flag. Bond maintained his second place over the line ahead of the recovering Golding in third.

Race 2 on Sunday saw Bond start on his very first Pole Position, and although led into Paddock he had to settle for second place behind Tom Golding who showed fabulous pace all weekend. Bond drove a consistent and intelligent race, completing the 8 laps once again P2 and ending his year on a deserved high.

Team Manager Ben Hyland said; "It has been a pleasure having Bond racing for the team this season, aside from some poor luck at Snetterton Bond has not been off the podium in any race, which proves his credability as a racing driver and as our competition champion from last year. We wish Bond the very best of luck for his future within motorsport and look forward to crowning another formidable successor in October at the competition finals at Blyton Park."
