Crawshaw And Docker Continue GRDC Dominance For W2R Motorsport

Posted on Wed 13th Jun, 2018 in: Team News

W2R Motorsport continued their 100% winning streak in the 2018 Ginetta Racing Drivers Club as James Crawshaw took his fourth and fifth victories of the season so far in the third meeting of the season at Silverstone this past weekend (9/10 June).

Crawshaw and team-mate Stephen Docker headed into the meeting having locked-out the top two positions in each of the races so far, and that feat continued at Silverstone as the team-mates secured another pair of one-two finishes for the team.

Racing as part of the British GT Championship’s flagship “Silverstone 500” event, it was Crawshaw who stormed to the top of the timesheets in qualifying on Saturday morning, taking pole position by 1.5 seconds ahead of Docker, who himself was 1.8 seconds quicker than the next placed driver.

2018 want2race competition winner Crawshaw would go on produce a faultless performance in the two races later that day, taking a pair of lights-to-flag victories by eleven and eight seconds respectively as he ended the day with a fastest lap nearly two seconds quicker than anyone else.

Docker, who finished as the 2017 want2race competition runner-up, would run in second place behind his team-mate throughout both races as he continued his fantastic season so far, which has featured five second place finishes and a victory at Snetterton.

Yorkshire-based W2R Motorsport now head into the final rounds of the 2018 Ginetta Racing Drivers Club at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 4/5 August with their sights set on completing a perfect season in the category.

W2R Motorsport’s Ben Hyland said: “James was truly untouchable this weekend, it was a whole new level of dominance. He was under lap record pace from the off in practice and his speed never dropped. He’s a focused driver who delivered a perfect weekend.

“Stephen closed the gap over the course of the weekend and he was the best of the rest by quite a margin. He’s showing fantastic progress this season and this was another great performance from him.

“I couldn’t ask for any more from both drivers. A 100% record for the season so far is perfect and the whole team couldn’t be happier. Fingers crossed we can complete the GRDC season in style at Brands Hatch.”
