Former want2race driver, competition winner and GRDC+ Champion Rob Keogh has today announced his return to W2R Motorsport – participating in the newly named Ginetta G40 Cup championship (previously GRDC+).
Keogh, 41 from Bristol, is no stranger to the Yorkshire-based racing outfit or indeed the G40 Cup championship, having raced two previous years finishing in the top two spots overall making him the most successful G40 Cup racer to date.
Marking his return to team, Keogh is determined to improve on his second place in 2017 - beaten only at the second to last round of the season by another former want2race driver and competition finalist Michael Crees.
“I’m excited to be back with my friends at W2R Motorsport, the professionalism in the paddock and car preparation by the team are second to none, with results consistently speaking for themselves. It has been a long winter with the thumbs well and truly twiddled – so time to get back racing and go for the championship!”
Team boss, Ben Hyland, is confident having Rob back under the awning will ensure he has the car and package around him be able to push for wins from the start.
“Rob is a likeable character and has always been a true ambassador for want2race, since he won the competition some six years ago. His passion for racing and talent behind the wheel is very rarely seen and I’m excited to be providing him the support he needs to consistently push at the front of the grid. With a stable full of G40 Cup cars we’ll have a competitive spirit within the team that pushes all our drivers to achieve their very best”.
The Ginetta G40 Cup Championship kicks off with the first three rounds of the championship at Oulton Park on April 1st.
