The first two rounds of the 2017 Ginetta Racing Drivers Club series got underway at the banked oval Rockingham Raceway circuit near Corby last weekend, with almost twenty budding new Ginetta-ites and their G40 club cars taking to the track.
Team want2race drivers Michael Crees and Bond To dominated the weekend, with Pole Position going to Crees in qualifying, followed by a Banzai last lap by bond to achieve a second place start on the grid.
Crees, racing in GRDC to attain essential signatures on his licence, was in fine form all weekend, winning both GRDC races in style and dealing with any challenges early on in both races admirably. The PCS sponsored driver is back in action once again in GRDC+ as he looks to improve on his 2nd place in the Championship later this month at Snetterton.
2016 competition winner Bond To hammered home why he beat off the two hundred other drivers last year wanting to be in his shoes come Rockingham, with Bond keeping Michael honest in both races and pulling off the move of the weekend around the outside of Sibley at the restart in Race 2. Bond also achieved fastest lap and is looking strong to ensure his debut race season with want2race will continue to be a successful one.
