W2R Motorsport Enjoy Dominant Snetterton GRDC Weekend

Posted on Tue 29th May, 2018 in: Team News

W2R Motorsport secured a clean sweep of success in the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club at Snetterton (26/27 May) as James Crawshaw and Stephen Docker took a race victory apiece in Norfolk.

Following a dominant display in the Rockingham season opener four weeks prior, the Yorkshire-based outfit would once again be the team to beat in GRDC with Crawshaw and Docker being in a class of their own at the top of the timesheets.

Crawshaw had provisionally taken pole position in qualifying on Saturday, before an unfortunate issue with his ride-height saw his times cancelled. This put Docker at the top for a second meeting in a row, while his team-mate would have to start back in eleventh.

Docker converted his pole position into an excellent lights-to-flag victory in race one, while Crawshaw produced a remarkable drive as he stormed his way through the field to second place at the finish, posting a fastest lap over a second quicker than anyone else en-route.

In race two, reigning want2race competition winner Crawshaw would take the lead on the opening lap and maintain it throughout for a third win of the season so far, posting the fastest lap once again, while Docker followed him home in second.

The result ensures the W2R team-mates have impressively locked-out the top two positions in each of the four races so far this season – a run they will be aiming to continue in the next rounds at Silverstone next month (09/10 June).

W2R Motorsport’s Ben Hyland said: “I’m elated for both James and Stephen, that they could share the wins. Stephen proved that he can lead from the front, keep his head and win races, which I’m sure he will do many more times this season as he continues to progress.

“James proved once again that he is a class act. Nothing seems to ruffle him, he rose to the challenge in the first race and produced two tremendous drives. It’s fantastic to come away with two happy, successful drivers, which is the best possible scenario for the team.”

Following their perfect weekend in Norfolk, Crawshaw and Docker’s next stop on the GRDC schedule takes them to Silverstone June 9th.
