Trackdays at Croft

It’s the place that our very own ARDS Instructor Max Coates likes to call home, and although he is loved for having more character than meets the eye, Croft very much delivers on everything you’d expect from a premium track day.

A combination of fast-flowing sections and tricky bends means you really feel the car beneath you, offering you an exhilarating driving experience that is sure to take your breath away.

Low numbers out on track make this even more memorable, with track time boosted to an absolute maximum. We don’t hold back on the noise either, with 105db static allowed on the circuit, you can really let rip and enjoy the sights and sounds of Croft to the hilt.

You can also drive in the comfort that you have a full team of professional and experienced staff behind you on every lap. From event hosts, engineers and even Grade S, A and B instructors, we've got everything on hand so that you don't have to worry about a thing. There's even a premium photographer on hand to help snap on those high-speed action shots.

Don’t forget you can also save £25 on this and all our other future track day events, along with a whole host of other benefits by joining our Track Pack membership.

Getting There

Located in Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, only six miles south of Darlington, this is a circuit that is particularly easy to travel to by car.

Just a few miles from the A1(M) motorway, its practically accessible from anywhere in the country and that includes London at the opposite end.

If you're travelling from the North, then take junction 58 off the A1(M) signposted for Darlington. Follow that route through Darlington itself, then take the A167 south towards Northallerton.

If you are coming from the south, then exit the A1(M) at junction 57 towards Darlington. At the second roundabout, take the fifth exit towards the A167 towards Northallerton, where you will see Croft Circuit signposted.

However, if you prefer to leave your driving for out on the track, then you travel by plane. The nearest international airport is Durham Tees Valley, which is only 11 miles away, but for a better choice of flights, Newcastle International Airport is your better bet, and still only an hour away from the track.

Darlington, which offers connections to Newcastle, York and London, also has a railway station if you want to travel by train, although you would need to take a taxi to get to the circuit from there.

Circuit History

As a strong stalwart of Yorkshire sport, Croft has a long and proud history dating back to 1940.

As many tracks with that kind of heritage, the circuit heralds from another of England’s former airfields, emerging from the Second World War. Bought as farmland, a standard Bomber Command three-runway was created and was operational to RAF Middleton St George.

The runways became the home to some of Britain's most significant war planes, but after the war ended it was renamed the RAF Neasham and sadly closed in 1946.

That was until some local motor enthusiasts saw the potential of the runways and the surrounding roads, with the Darlington and District Motor Club opening it back up for events in 1948. By the 1950’s it had already been approved by the Royal Automobile Club with a full schedule of events added to the calendar.

Most recently, it has been better known for hosting the British Touring Car Championship, and a regular destination for Britisht GT and Formula Three. British Superbikes even visited in the early 2000's.
